I give it a chance and hopefully catch it before it goes to seed, if it's not interesting. I think cone flowers are modest in the first year and then full flowering in the second year. Your veg plants are quite a haul. Just how growing your own should be. Be careful of the mons...Everything is looking good! Be careful of the monster you unleash!!! We moved here nearly 20 years ago. I worked my tail off---tearing out ugly things and put in 9 separate gardens. I've lost plenty over the years---especially when we are on water restriction here in Brentwood. It all looks pretty good, but the work never ends. BTW are you familiar with Osmocote? It's an inexpensive time release granular fertilizer that you just sprinkle on top of your soil.
