florida photos: my backyard

i took all these flower photos in my backyard and on the little road by our house.  i was excited to capture this little sulfur as they are general too busy to photograph.

i grew up calling these "bee flowers" for obvious reasons.  ;)

i wonder if this is a very old man turtle.

my dad really loves watching the antics of the squirrels in the yard.  i think they were in double digits this year as he said there were about seven or eight babies this spring.

i'm not so good with landscape shots, but his gives you a general idea of what the north florida pine woods look like.

this bee was SO purple.  really.  a vivid royal purple.  i guess it was iridescent and hard to capture on film.  i was a little disappointed when i saw the photos, but oh well.  at least i had the experience.  i had never seen anything like it before.

crawdad mound.  there's a crawdad down there, for real.  florida isn't very high above sea level in any given spot you know.

looking up.

macro.  florida in october is very beautiful.  more posts coming soon!

youtube: traveling art supplies for the traveler's notebook

can i just tell you how much easier it is to pack art supplies for the traveler's notebook vs scrapbooking?  there is not comparison.  a trunk FULL vs two tiny freckled fawn zipper pouches.  wowzas.

youtube: january/february project life flip through

i did it!  i finally finished up my january and february pages in my project life albums and made a little video!  please be kind, i have learned my lesson about talking, videoing, and flipping pages all at the same time.  once i get my march and april pages done, i will be sure and get my kid to help me video them!  :)

cocoa daisy: ober gatlinburg

my goodness!  it's a good thing i finally took the time to tidy up the photo files on my laptop.  i had completely forgotten to edit and upload this layout!  i believe it was with the september (or maybe even august) cocoa daisy kit.  and i can't even believe we're getting close to cold weather season again.  brrrrrrr.  nor can i believe that my baby's been a boy scout for months and months now.  time flies.  this was his last big trip with the cub scouts.  i remember being so proud of him for sticking to it in the skating rink even though it made him nervous and he didn't like it much at all.  he persevered.  then i was very thankful that he really took to the skiing and loved it lots.  what a great trip!  we sure did love our cub scout pack and we love our boy scout troop too, we just love scouting.  it's brought and keeps bringing us so many wonderful opportunities and great people.

wchs: endless summer

i went over to my high school right before our florida trip to see what was left of summer and if any bits of fall had arrived yet on the ridge there.  i found lots of pretty things to photograph and the sunlight was magical.  we've actually had a mild fall so far, but our first cold front is moving in tonight.  big sigh.

i saw this really cool piece of light in the clouds on my way home.  my instagram friends tell me it's called a sundog.  i had never seen one before.  it was awesome.  :)
