cocoa daisy: kitty flip card

i made my first flip letter and it was SO much fun!  it's basically a mini-album in a card.  i thought the best way to share it with you would be through a little video.  you can see all the delightful things inside here:

cocoa daisy: project life mini album #2

well hello friends!  slowly but surely i am making progress on my 2015 project life album.  on thursday i got pictures printed and slotted through april.  it makes me feel good to get them printed, especially since i lost a few when i lost my iphone this summer.

this is a little mini-album insert for the month of february that i created with the september cocoa daisy kits (you NEED the DITL kit, seriously).

i mentioned before that i'm changing up my project life format a little this year, using different sizes of pocket pages, mixing in a few 8.5x11 layouts with the 12x12's and making these tiny mini-album inserts.  it's a fun change.  i'm almost done with january, so i'll hopefully be making a video of that soon to show you what i'm talking about.

i also wanted to mention that i'm teaching on the topic of project life over at masterful scrapbook design this month.  it's a great line-up that includes my scrap gals pal, tracie claiborne.  check it out HERE.

and i have this little video of this latest mini to share with you today.  enjoy!  and thanks for watching!

calviball: the school mini-album

except for a few end of the year things, g's school mini-album is finished!  (thanks to calvinball as i scored 16 points on this baby).  i started this when g was in 2nd grade and only ever got the 2nd grade section started.  i'm so happy to have it (mostly) done since g is in the 5th grade now and will be in middle school this fall (boo hoo).

this isn't a comprehensive collection of his school years; it's more of an overview.  each grade level contains a school photo, a work sample, a piece of memorabilia, and an overview that i wrote on how the year went.  there's a little video at the end of this post in case you want to see more of the pages and the somewhat interactive ones.

i just love seeing all his pictures together through the years.

first day of kindergarten.  my baby!

i was never good at sending out school pics, so in a couple places i just added him in duplicate.  i think it's a cool look.

most years i was too cheap to buy school pictures since i take so many of him all the time anyway.

a minecraft bookmark.  minecraft pretty much took over his life in the fourth grade and he wasn't the only one.  i actually bought a set of school pics this year as he wore his cub scout uniform.

work from the first day of 2nd grade on the left and a photo from the first day of 3rd on the right.

video walk through!

holiday mini: december pages

i did it!  i finally finished the last few collage pages in my holidays mini-album.  december is now in the books and i'm filing them away for another time.  i still need to go back and finish the calendar, quotes, and recipe pages for 3/4 of the months, but for now i'm needing a little break from it.  i'm putting it on the shelf, putting the leftovers from my decemer jbs mercantile kit in my christmas crafting box (along with my 2014 december daily that i've decided to finish in november of 2015 - i figure i'll be much more in the mood for christmas crafting then).  i am almost ready for spring.  almost . . .

we just have to get through snowmageddon this week.  yes!  the south is finally FINALLY getting some snow.  i hope.  please, snowbird, don't let this be another case of you crying wolf.  you've done that a few too many times in the last few years.  i will keep you posted.  i am hoping to wake up to a winter wonderland photo op.  in any case, teachers don't have to go to work tomorrow.  we got the call right at 3:00 this afternoon.  i call that poetic justice.  teachers shouldn't be scheduled to work on a federal holiday ever.  so there.  ;)

holiday mini: july through november

my holiday mini-album was a year long project that i started with a great deal of enthusiasm last january.  i maintained my enthusiasm through march and then it began wavering.  i basically blew it off for the rest of the spring.  in june i decided to get caught up on it, but pared it down to just the title page, holiday pages, and the ending page each month of my son and i and a few of our favorite (current) things (i left out the birthday page, quotes page, and recipes page).  then i got behind again and had to power though on catching up in november and early december.  i am now down to just my december pages to be finished (i am planning on giving myself a year off from this project and then adding the missing birthday, quotes, and recipe pages in 2016).  what i have discovered is that i do not have the attention span for year long projects.  squirrel!

me and g - this is my favorite part of the book, the monthly photos of my son and i and a few of the things we liked about that month or something we did that month.  if you don't get in the photo month, i highly recommend that you make it a goal to have a monthly photo of you and your child(ren) or a selfie if you're single or past the kid years.  this is my second year doing this and it's so worth it.

holiday mini album: an update

goodness.  i feel like it's been so long since i last shared pages from my holiday handbook that you all have probably forgotten what the heck it is.  in a nutshell, i decided to document my one little word "holiday" in this mini-album format all year.  it was an excellent idea at the time and i really do still love it.  the problem is that i don't still like doing it.  or rather, i am too flighty to want to stick with something all year long.  herein lies the problem.  when it gets closer toward the end of the year and i start talking about my goals for 2015, won't someone please remind me that i don't like year long projects?

one thing that i will say that i totally appreciate about this project is my decision to incorporate a photo of my son and i each month.  i initially started documenting what we were into each month.  then when i got behind and didn't write these things down and thus couldn't remember what we were into, i started just asking him (and myself) what three things we enjoyed most about a specific event that month (like cub scouts, north carolina, etc.).  it's been a great way to record my thoughts and his and our different perspectives on things.  i love it a lot, really.

at this point i have begun just doing my intro page, the holiday collages, and the page of the two of us each month.  the quote collections, recipe pages, and birthday calendars will have to be added in some other year.

currently, i have this much done through mid-august (i'm sharing the best from  may and june today).

i am annoyed that i fell off the wagon again after getting caught up a couple months ago.  and getting caught up was such a struggle then, i remember, as i felt like i had lost all creativity with it at first (april was ugly).  then i found my groove again and loved my pages.  i just really hope that when i dive back in they will come effortlessly and not be a struggle.  but creativity does ebb and flow, doesn't it?

this page was to commemorate father's day.

wasn't my dad a cutie?  he's the oldest one in the foreground.

what about you?  behind on any projects/goals?  do share.  i would feel better.  :)

one little word: holiday mini-album

i am still loving this little project.  it's my one little word mini-album based on the word "holiday."  so fun.  i've settled into a routine of having the intro to each month appear on a transparent page.  i've also been sticking to my jbs mercantile kits for that month (with heavy emphasis on the antiquarian).  it's been a good combination thus far.  i was worried this month that i didn't have a transparent paper to use, but then i came up with the idea of using washi tape to piece together two of the four x six acetate sheets from the mini-album kit.  perfect!

here's how the page looks behind the peekaboo portion.  i listed my favorite things about march.  march is a very good (happy birthday) month for me.

these are the rest of my february pages.  the calendar page (and i've still forgotten to ask my mother for a complete list of family birthdays) and a few favorite quotes from pinterest.  (and argh i need to find a glue strong enough to hold those "holiday" letters in place).

superbowl appetizers (my friend and i have an inside joke with supercup) and (shamefully) another i don't eat peas page (really, i am an adult).

presidents' day (hee.  i dressed my son and his little friend as abe and george) and the olympics.

and then our monthly together pic with some notes about current favorites.  this is such a fun project!
