project life: july jbs mercantile
happy day! i am "caught up" again! (caught up for me means i'm less than two weeks behind in organizing and printing my photos). i have to say, it feels totally awesome to have six months of photos out and viewable in an album. g sure does love it.
this spread has some random snaps on the left and then some favorites from several trips we took to the lake in june. i used some bits from all the july jbs mercantile kits for this one. i especially loved lisa dickinson's exclusive cut apart paper that debuted in the historian add-on this month. the title cards on this spread and the next one are my favorites.
also loving how the 4x6 photos look cut apart and spread across two of the smaller slots. neato.
this one is the last few pics from april and then the start of may.
i stuck to the july historian kit exclusively for this one (except for the title letters for may). i like the way the washi tape makes the pages cohesive.
yay project life!

masterful scrapbook design: thinking inside the box
i never realized that i am such a grid junkie until debbie asked me to participate in "grids and blocks," the july/august seminar at masterful scrapbook design. did you all realize that i'm such a square?
the seminar is available now, and i'll be chatting with debbie about my pages tomorrow at high noon cst, 1:00 pm edt. i forget how we got on the topic yesterday, but i was telling jenni that chatting with debbie is like being interviewed by oprah, but in the scrappy arena. i'm looking forward to it!
by the way, this is the second time i've scrapbooked this photo. one tiny joy of having two adorable nieces is that i get to scrapbook the great shots twice! you can see version one here.

get it scrapped!: art deco style
this layout was created for an article on art deco style over at get it scrapped! it's a very fabulous article; i enjoyed reading it immensely. you can read up on art deco inspired scrapbooking as well as get a little background info on the techniques i used on this page along with my supply list over there. i will tell you that those gold leaves are addicting. i have used them on four layouts already and i guess i won't be able to stop till i use them all up. i got my pack from the jbs mercantile april artisan add-on.
i am pleased to report that after a rusty start, the scrapbook mojo has returned and i have been scrapping up a storm. my friend lillie came over today and brought les mis, so i finally got to see it. excellent. and on a sad note, my boo baby facetimed me this evening in tears. homesickness has finally set in. he is missing his mommy tonight and i am sad as he has ten more days away. :(

project life: behind for real and not liking it
i think i mentioned earlier this year that i don't mind being behind on project life, that i actually like having a little backlog of spreads to work on when i have a few spare minutes. well, i currently have one unfinished spread left in march, one in april, and maybe a half spread in may. i'm chill with those. the pictures are all printed, slotted, and ready to be played with. the problem that has arisen is that somehow i let all of june get away from me without planning out any spreads. and now i'm almost halfway through july too. trying to figure out where i want all the pictures to go and which spaces to leave open is much easier when there is just a week or two to deal with. six weeks worth of backlogged images sitting on my computer and cell phone is a bit more overwhelming. i have learned my lesson on this. once i get caught up on the photo organization and printing i must be careful to at least sketch out my pages every couple weeks. whew!
this spread is from early may. the first column is all about mothers' day. the rest of the spread is our cub scout spring camp out and crossover. fun times! it was hard narrowing it down to the highlights. need to make some layouts from that trip for sure!
on this spread: i believe these were all from the may jbs mercantile kits (sold out).

blowing the dust off the scrap space . . .
well. i haven't blogged at all this month. i haven't made a scrappy related post since june 2nd. my scrap space is a mess. something must be done! we got back from florida monday night, yesterday was a whirlwind of errand running, and this morning i took my angel baby to the airport at 3:30am. he and his papi are spending 12 days in honduras with the abuelos, tios, and primos. i am flying solo, something i haven't done much of in the last 9.75 years. i suppose i shall survive. first things first, i must get the scrap room unpacked then take scissors to paper. wish me luck!
