are you ready for february?  i am thanks to cocoa daisy!  i have my planner all set up and simon, our cute little mascot, tells me we even get a bonus day this month as it's leap year!  hooray!

here is a rambling 30 minute version of me putting together my daisydori, but if you'd like the short version . . .

what is a traveler's notebook anyway?

I know I have been posting a lot about my Traveler's Notebook lately and realize that many of you may not know exactly what I am talking about.  A Traveler's Notebook is basically a leather or fabric cover that holds several little notebooks inside.  You can see my beautiful Chic Sparrow on the top right.  On the top left are a couple of my December inserts to give you an idea of what the little notebooks look like.  The two bottom pictures are taken from my December DaisyDori planner.  The one on the left is my monthly calendar and the one on the right is my week at a glance planning.

I also use my Traveler's Notebook for all sorts of journaling.  Top left is my current December Daily insert that I made myself from paper bags.  On the right is my Journal Your Christmas (by Shimelle) insert.  Bottom left is some ephemera housed in my November DaisyDori.  Bottom right is my I Am Project (by Florence Antonette) insert.

Top left is September's #creativemidorichallenge (by Florence Antonette).  Top right is a peek in my Hobinichi doodling notebook, my lateset obsession.  Bottom left is my little passport sized Midori.  I keep it by my bed at the moment, but took it with me all over Washington D.C. last summer.  On the right is journaling on the go this summer while my son was fishing at the state park.  :)

As you can see, I am completely addicted to my Traveler's Notebook.  They are so much fun!

so, i've retired my filofax style a5 planner now that i've discovered the midori traveler's notebook.  i surely did have fun with these pages this year though.  here's a comprehensive youtube video of all my pages from january through september.  :)

raskog cart organization for my midori supplies

i have FINALLY found a purpose for the raskog cart that came to live with me over a year ago.  she and my midori have become bff's.  raskog holds all the party supplies while midori houses the organization and inspiration.  it's a match made in heaven.  i even made a new video . . . :)

youtube: enabling

i kind of love my new midori traveler's notebook.  i've decided it's a sensory thing.  the leather cover smells so good.  i love the feel of it in my hands.  the sound of the pages turning is delightful.  seriously, when people gush about the quality of midori paper, there is truth to it.  i mean, look how it takes ink.  awesomeness.  and visually i am just so inspired.  i made a little video of last week's shopping spree.  i haven't been this excited about buying new crafty supplies in ages.  and if you're looking for a cool new chick to follow on youtube, check out ali brown.  she is funny, heartwarming, and an excellent videographer.  also, there will be more enabling.  you're welcome.  :)

oh!  and if you do watch my video, you'll be proud to note that i did indeed use that jungle kitty washi tape already!  and you may notice that i forgot to share the new metallic tim holtz distress stains in my swatches.  doh!  i opened them yesterday and they are amazing!  will have to make another video soon!  also, i wanted to mention that i am careless with my distress stains and totally layer one on top of the other.  i am actually careful to only layer dark colors over light colors though.  if you layer a light color over a dark color, you will definitely stain your tip.  you should probably be more careful that i am and use a paintbrush or baby wipe or something.  also, i am loving the versafine.  and also i am in a hurry to type this before school, so i am not doing a proper job with the english language.  ooops.

i have a new midori!

my new midori traveler's notebook came in the mail thursday afternoon!  i've had so much fun getting it set up this weekend!  i can already tell that i'm going to love it.  i'll be back with a full report at the end of the month, but i couldn't resist making a video to show you have i've gotten it set up.  hopefully, it will be packed with words the next time i share it!  :)

midori traveler's notebook: passport size

i was absolutely delighted to visit with tiffany and tracie to discuss the planner craze on the scrapgals podcast a few weeks ago.  what an absolutely fantastic fun time.  i show up at about the 30 minute mark and i will go ahead and warn you: my southern accent is much more pronounced when talking with southern ladies than it is when i chat with debbie hodge.

while on the show i mentioned that i wanted to make a video of my new passport size midori traveler's notebook.  my first ever midori!   i love it lots.  it's way adorable and super functional.  pardon any video imperfections.  it had been a month since the last one due to losing my cell phone, vacationing, and heading back to school.  i didn't sleep well the night before and had a headache.  it's hard to think,  talk, and make sure the image is in the frame when the brain isn't firing on all cylinders.  i was in a get'er done mood though, so i got it done!

cooa daisy: july planner set up

my planner is a little late to the party this month.  here it is the 15th and i'm just now sharing her.  isn't she worth the wait though.  i have been waiting for these july pages from cocoa daisy for what feels like forever.  i absolutely love their designs.  i am spoiled for any other planners now.

we started out with an ocean theme with anchor, crab, and octopus.  i morphed this into a florida theme by mixing in some flamingos from the add-on options.  perfect!  since i'm heading to florida to visit the family soon.

this was the free downloadable printable calendar that went along with the planner kit.  august's freebie is just as fabulous.

on the left, the "currently makes me happy" page is from the dear lizzy 52 week journal that i purchased as an add-on.  the "goals" title from two pages earlier is also from that journal.  i really liked some of the graphics and prompts from the journal, but didn't want to keep it as a separate journal, so I've been cutting out bits to use in my daily planner.  on the right are a couple project cards from the july ditl kit.  i thought they were perfect for adding a few adventure and book goals for the summer months.

aren't the colors so vibrant this month?  i really, really love them.  it's a good thing august's kit is like a candy shop, or i'd be that much sadder to see july go.  hold on to summer as long as you can . . .

i am so glad i joined cocoa daisy in january!  i am just loving this planner craze more and more.

well.  i have developed several new addictions here lately.  the first is that i totally went planner crazy in the month of may.  everything i said i wouldn't do i've done. pens, decorating, photos . . . you name it, it's in there.

 

part of my planner frenzy is due to florence antonette and her creative midori challenge.  i just love this list.  the top page above holds the last three prompts from the month of may.  then directly above you see her new list for the month of june.  i can't wait to play!

and then there is my new youtube addiction.  i bought a selfie stick.  i know, i'm shocked too.  but i bought it so i could use my iphone to make videos at my desk.  it works like a charm and now i'm addicted to making videos of my planner.  in fact, besides the one here, i've made FOUR more for our upcoming class at cocoa daisy.

the class begins june 15th, so there's still plenty of time to get signed up!  i personally can't wait to see what the other girls do!  this planner thing is AWESOME!  i haven't been this excited about paper in a long time!  :)

note:  if you watch the video, i wanted to mention a few changes that i made to the final page and why.

1. i outlined the yellow #summer letters with pen to make them show up better and then added some washi tape to the bottom because they weren't sticking well and also to add additional color.
2. i added the yellow washi at the bottom and circled june because that's what's up next.  i meant to do it while filming, but it's hard to think and talk and play with paper all at the same time.  :)

cocoa daisy: may planner pages

i'm a little late posting my planner pages this month, but i think that's a good thing as i've had so many planner breakthroughs in the last week or so.  i'm starting to really get this thing figured out.

i'm getting addicted to the add-on kit, so i was stoked when christine announced a subscription for that one.  i mean, it was totally stressful wondering if there were going to be any left of the june kit with kp's post it notes in them.  i am proud to report that mine arrived earlier this week.  whew!

i finally switched out my beloved february charm.  may's nerd planner bunny was just too cute and totally won me over.  his name is simon.  isn't he adorable?

now here are a couple of new discoveries.  i used to just cover up this simple calendar, because i didn't really think i had a use for it.  well, i had a "duh" moment.  i've started using it to track my miles each week.  every week i try to get in 26 miles (a marathon!), and this is the perfect place to write down my mileage each day.  then i give myself a star on the week number if i hit my goal.  such motivation!

i have also realized that the place where i stick all my sticky notes is called a "dashboard."  see!  i'm learning.  :)

here's another new thing.  i've finally started decorating full throttle.  yep.  on the left is random ephemera from the month that i've been sticking in there.  i used to let this stuff pile up on my desk, thinking i'd put it in my project life album.  great idea, but i never remembered.  instead, it would mostly pile up and then get thrown away.  i like this much better.

on the right is where i've been putting my important events for the week as a reminder to myself and then decorating it a little with stamps.  i had the revelation this month that it would also be a fun place to write little notes about my day.  i think with this new plan, however, i need to start writing my weekly events in a fun ink color, so they'll stand out from my journaling. 

i am not at all happy with my stamping on this page though.  i'm a horrible stamper to begin with and then i used grey ink which wasn't dark enough.  i went back and tried to stamp a couple again with black, but that just made them look fuzzy.  now i've decided it would look cute to restamp the tag and bunny on white paper and then cut them out and glue them in.  i think i'll even color the bunny then a la sam ho.

then this is pretty much the most fun i've had in a while.  i just randomly started playing with florence antonette's #creativemidorichallenge and had a blast.  i've looked at a few list making/journaling type challenges before, but i really am loving this one.  it's the perfect mix of thoughtful with fun and fluffy.  i just get bogged down mentally when they're all requiring me to think.  it's too much work after working all day, lol.  these two pages hold prompts 1-9.  i did 10-18 yesterday and have started another set today.  i'll share those soon!

here's a closer look at the "p is for . . . " prompt.  i found wordfetti that started with p and then was inspired to do a little extra journaling that i tucked in the glassine envelope for privacy (p is for privacy!  ha!).

here's another week at a glance page that i have started.  i am totally loving the bee stamp set from cocoa daisy this month (i also used it on a set of cards).

and i finally used up all my washi and needed to replenish in summer colors.  having this page to pull from has come in handy so often.
